Asia E-commerce Week will be held virtually from 17 to 21 October 2021, in close collaboration with the United Arab Emirates, host country of the event.

This event will take place at an opportune time, when the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has been creating vast challenges and straining economies, while at the same time bolstering the update of digital technologies and tools. E-commerce and digital trade have been sustaining large sectors of countries’ economies by opening new opportunities and fuelling the digital transformation. However, enormous challenges lie ahead for countries that are digitally less prepared and therefore at risk of falling even further behind.

The Asia E-commerce Week will offer a unique space for a global and regional dialogue and targeted discussions under the theme “Shaping the digital economy for all”, with a specific focus on the Asia and the Pacific region. COVID-19 impacts, trends, potential policy responses and recovery plans will also be discussed.

The event, organized in collaboration with eTrade for all partners, will bring together participants from the Asia and the Pacific region and beyond. Ministers, senior government representatives, business leaders, civil society, academia and experts from various international organizations will come together for a week-long dialogue dedicated to shaping a sustainable digital landscape in Asia and the Pacific.

The UNCTAD secretariat welcomes proposals by member States to organize a session during the week- long conference. To qualify, all proposals must be submitted online through this form by 10 August 2021. After this date, applications will no longer be considered. Proposals sent by any other means will not be considered. Relevant instructions and selection criteria are detailed in the online form.
